Storm by Gurpreet Kaur Sidhu #stormbooktour #stormiscoming #itsacursetoremember

The first in a series, Storm is a twists-and-turns thriller driven by compelling characters challenged by dangerous forces, both external, internal, and eternal.

Evan Storm had been confronted by his past (an unpleasant one at that) in his dreams, and now in his waking life. He is struggling to reconcile the evil that lurks in his soul. Shadow Hex is his new neighbor, who also fears a dangerous past – her former fiancé who works for the Secret Eye Agency (which is as shadowy and sinister as it sounds). Does Shadow hold the key to Evan’s redemption? Is redemption even possible?

Interview –
Tell us about your new release?

It’s about Evan Storm who remembers his past life. He has a gut feeling there’s a reason as to why he remembers a life that has no correlation to his current life. As he’s trying to make sense of it all, he meets Shadow Hex, who is escaping from her ex-fiancé, Marvin Stone. When the two meet, he realizes who she is and for him, things begin to fall into place. But Evan has no idea what he’s getting himself into getting involved with Shadow.

Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world?

Gosh, there are soo many beautiful places that I would want to make my home! I would have to say Florence, Italy because I’ve been there. It’s breathtaking and it’s such a peaceful city. And out of all the cities we visit, Florence had the best gelato! I had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Do you read reviews written about your book?

Yes, I do and some of them are not fun to read! However, I have an amazing PR manager, who has made it easier for me to read the reviews. The reality is, not everyone is going to love your work and be interested in it. It’s discouraging but then I remind myself that I can’t please everyone. Even the greatest bestselling authors of our time have had some really bad reviews.

Do you listen to music while writing?

Yes, I do! I will listen to anything that gets me in the mood to write. Sometimes I will listen to sad songs to help me write a sad scene in the book. It’s hard to write something sad when you’re in a good mood.

What do you love about writing?

I love that I can immerse myself in a whole new world where I have control over what happens. I get to bring different types of personalities to life. With writing, I’m in charge and that helps me kind of release any kind of pain or disappointment I’ve had or dealing with. My life didn’t go the way I planned. I question a lot of things that have happened in my life and wonder why they happened. Sometimes we don’t get the answer we’re looking for, and sometimes we do. This particular story helped me grieve and I believe a lot of authors, who write fiction, write from their own experience. The story the world ends up reading is the exaggerated version of the truth. The best way to describe my love for writing is that it’s therapeutic.

Did you know the title before you started writing?

No, I did not. When I wrote the first draft, it was called Eight. I discussed the title with my editor and she gave me her input. When we worked together on the final version two years later, it was called The New Beginning. I had a really hard time coming up with the title for this book. So, when I had people read the book, I wrote down all the suggestions I received and brainstormed all the potential titles that would fit this book. Out of 40 different titles, I finally decided to name this book Storm with the subtitle: It’s a curse to remember. It fits perfectly with what the book is about.

What inspired you to write, you took any ideas from other books, movies etc?

I was inspired by Shonda Rhimes’ show Scandal and the secret organization called B613. In Storm, there’s also a sinister organization called, The SEA which stands for The Secret Eye Agency. Other than that, I’ve always been curious about past lives and reincarnation. I’ve come across people who do know who they were in their past lives and I think that’s just mind-blowing. I don’t have that sort of gift so I decided, why not create a story where the character does remember his past life? And that’s how this story came to be.

Are there any particular books and/or authors that inspired you and continue to do so?

Oh, absolutely! J.K. Rowling has been an inspiration since her first release and continues to be my inspiration. When I wrote my first book in the seventh grade, I had the mindset that if J. K. Rowling could create something so fantastic, so could I. Even now, when I look back at her struggles and how far she’s come despite those struggles, it just pushes me even more to write and not give up. Growing up, I always wanted to be the next J. K. Rowling in the sense that she built an empire all on her own. She had a vision and she didn’t give up on that. She’s a legend!  One of my favorite things about her is that she donated a lot of money to charity which resulted in her losing her title as a billionaire. When I read that, my heart filled with soo much happiness. I really hope one day I can do the same.

Where can readers find your books?

They can find Storm on my website, gurpreetkaursidhu.com, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kindle, Nook, iBooks, and Google Play Books.

Do you ever run into someone who says “You write WHAT?”

I think it’s not even what I write that shocks people. It’s the fact that I write in general and have written a novel that shocks them. I’m very secretive about what I do when it comes to my goals and ambitions. For me, it’s the questions I’m not ready to answer if I speak too soon. So I keep quiet People do get shocked when they hear about what I’ve written or what the book is about because when you look at me, you wouldn’t expect me to write in this kind of genre. But I guess it’s always good to surprise people and not reveal everything, right?

What projects are you currently working on right now? Would you mind sharing them with us?

I’m working on the second book for this series. I’m almost halfway done, but I took a break from writing the second book because there is a lot that goes on and I need a break from that world. Even though I plan everything out before writing, it does mentally exhaust you. When you’re trying to keep readers on their toes and create plot twists, you are constantly thinking outside of the box. I’m playing out different scenarios in my head to see which one would get the best result when I’m trying to fall asleep! So, it’s a break I really needed but I feel I’m ready to head back into that arena and finish the story. I’m also working on a screenplay, which I hope to see on the big screen. I’m in the process of editing it before I hand it over to a professional to review it. It’s a totally different genre to the books I write which fall under the psychological thriller category. For the screenplay, I planned out what was going to happen from the beginning to the end, and as I was writing the ending, it took a whole different turn. I actually cried as I was writing the ending. It was so unexpected, but I think the ending is what is going to make the story memorable.

How would you describe your book in 20 words or less without using the blurb?
The Helios Chronicles follows the ups and downs of Andrew and Madison’s life and love,
in an unforgiving world.

Tell us a little about yourself
For those that don’t know me, my name is T.M. Witko. I am a licensed clinical
psychologist, a full-time writer/editor and one of the co-founders of Winyan Press, LLC,
an independent publishing house geared at helping female writers find their voice.
When I first started writing I thought that I had to pick one particular style and write just
in that style but then I met several writers that were considered multi-genre authors
and realized that I could do all the things I enjoyed. Thus, I consider myself a multi-genre
author who writes Young Adult & New Adult Fiction, Crime/Suspense/Thrillers, Adult
Romance, and Native American Fiction.

Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Yes, from the time I was tween, I would get lost in the written world, a pleasant escape
from reality. I used to create environments in my head and produce stories for the
events around me. It became a fun game for my friends. They would say, hey Tawa,
‘what’s going on there’, or ‘what do you think is happening in that picture’, and I would
just make up some intricate plot. It was amazing. But, life had other things in mind for
me and I found myself double majoring in Literature and Psychology. God, or the creator
in my tradition, decided my path and I went with it, figuring at some point I would find
myself in the writing world, and, I have.

Do you listen to music while writing?
Always, I have different playlists for my moods. Some artists just evoke certain feelings
in me. For example, the indie artists Bobby Long, served as my music muse for the
Helios Chronicles. There was just something about his songs that made me feel as if he
were writing about my Helios. I remember when I first started writing again, if I
indicated that I was listening to Kings of Leon, people knew something bad was about to
happen…. LOL, but Kris Allen, served the opposite, he always made me feel hopeful and
carefree. I actually have a few songs I have heard recently that I’m dying to write a story
to. It was like, the moment I heard them a story began to form in my head. I’m sure I’ll
write them at some point ?

Do you see yourself in any of your characters?
Yes, usually I put a piece of myself in several characters, whether it be a quirk or my
favorite coffee, or favorite sports team. Some characters are more me than others. I just
finished writing a Young Adult story with my teenage daughter and the dynamics of the
mother and daughter are very much us.

Are you a plotter or a pantzer?
I am definitely a plotter. Before I start writing I have it outlined, with family trees, and
timelines of events. I do this with all my stories but even more so when I write suspense.
But, even in The Helios Chronicles, I needed an extensive timeline for when things
happen, because while you can read each book independently, there are some
overarching themes, so I needed to make sure they all connected.

Where do you get your inspiration?
Because I am a multi-genre author, my inspiration comes from a lot of places. I will say
that I really love throwing angst in stories, which I know comes from the work I do as a
clinical psychologist. That energy has to go somewhere and it often ends up in my
stories. Not specific things, mind you, that would be a breach of confidentiality, but it’s
more the energy that comes off of being in despair. If I’m good at what I do then I take a
little bit of that energy away from my clients and take it with me, so they can be a bit
better, but I have to get rid of it, so when a story is particularly angsty, I know it’s been a
rough week, or month. Most of my Native fiction comes from my environment and my
life. And of course, music, or things I see. My children and family, often ground me, just
to make sure I don’t go too deep into the angst or despair. My daughter likes to tell me
that she keeps me from killing everyone off… LOL, she’s probably right on that ?

What book is currently on your nightstand?
I have been re-reading a friend of mines Ceaseless series. She, Mindy Marin, wrote the
first two books, Birth of the Phoenix and Flight of the Thunderbird, and I am anxiously
awaiting the final book, which she hasn’t written yet. It’s a story of love and magic and
reincarnation.

How important do you find the communication between you and your readers? Do you
reply to their messages or read their reviews?
I think it’s integral to developing a fanbase. I respond to every message I receive. I
remember one person having a long conversation with me about my books and she was

simply surprised that she was talking to the author. I told her, ‘if she had the time to
message me, I had the time to answer’. I want to connect with people. There’s not much
I like more than visiting with people about books ?
I definitely read reviews and take it all in. Even if someone doesn’t like something, I
think it’s important, unless of course, it’s just to complain and they don’t really have a
solid reason. I received one review that just didn’t like the POV I used in one of my
books. I immediately jumped over to my editor and asked her about it, she told me that
I was very clear in who was talking and not to feel upset about it. I told her I wasn’t
upset, just curious if that was something I needed to fix in the other books. I don’t think
I’m perfect by far and I’m sure if I re-read any of my books I’d find lots of flaws, wouldn’t
we all? But, yes, I think reviews let us know if we have touched someone or not.
Sometimes people just message me their thoughts which I love but, then I’m thinking,
this is awesome but please, leave this same thought on Amazon… LOL

If you could visit any place in the world or a place created by a book, where would you
visit?
In real life I have always wanted to visit Paris. It’s my dream that I hope to one day fulfill.
As far as in the book universe, that’s easy. I’d want to go to Hogwarts. I’m a huge
Potterhead, as are my children. I think hoping the Hogwarts Express and heading to the
castle would be the ultimate fangirl experience. Guess the closest I will get to that is
Universal Studios ?

What projects are you currently working on right now? Would you mind sharing them
with us?
I have three completed stories set to release in 2018. One is a paranormal young adult
story called, An Unexpected Gift which I wrote with my daughter. It’s the first book in a
series called The Diakrisis Tales, about a young girl named Parker, who unbeknownst to
her, possess the gift to not only see spirits but communicate with them as well. In the
first book she finds herself battling a demon in her new town. The second book is a
crime suspense story called, Retaliatory Justice which is about a group of elite ATF
agents, trying to solve a multi-city crime. It is also the first book of a series, this one
called The Talionic Files. In the first book we find Valentino taking on the case of his
career, but can he complete the mission without losing himself in the process? The third
book is an adult romance called, Beyond the Beach, which is a story of two people,
Masen and Zoe, who decide to have an island fling, only they end up falling in love with
one another. Will they be able to say goodbye at the end of their time together?

About the Author:

I am a small town girl with big dreams. I grew up in a small coastal community called Pamlico County in the town of Reelsboro North Carolina. Growing up in such a rural area there wasn’t much to do, so I developed a wide fantasy finding solace in writing poetry and songs. After high school I left my little secure coastal town to discover other parts of the country. It was a sad and lonely time, but also a fun and exciting time in my life. I had too many emotions to process so I started to put it all down on paper. That became the start of my first novel, which I have yet to finish. My first complete novel entitled Protector was a dream come true, although I found out during the process, at 31 years old, I am dyslexic. Reading was always a struggle throughout my life and finding out why has really made a difference in me and my writing. It was such a wonderful and daunting process but I have succeeded in doing something I never thought I would do. I have 3 novels published, Protect, Protect Me and Too Close To Home and 2 more on the way. Writing is such a passion of mine and will continue to be whether I become successful with it or not. I currently live out side of my home town with my husband and daughter.

Her Honor’s Bodyguard

by Johnny Ray

Do first loves ever really die? While reunions can take many forms, there is always one question that has to be answered sooner or later—what happened?

Vance had always been extremely proud of Noella, and just because his life had been ruined, he saw no reason why she had to have the same faith. When his dad died, leaving him and his mother penniless, he dropped out of law school and ended his relationship with Noella, but in doing so, he stopped a scandal that could have ruined her family. These secrets he would never let her know. Ironically, years later, he would have never guessed she would be instrumental in ruining his career with the Tampa police force.

After Noella finished law school and started pursuing her goal of working up the ranks in judgeships, she never considered inviting another guy into her life. As such, when someone attempts to threaten her into vacating her seat on the bench, and by force if necessary, she knows of no one else she really trust as much as Vance, who now has a successful bodyguard and private detective business.

She knows that Vance might hate her for her part in having him dismissed from the police force, but what he will never know is that she actually saved him from going to prison. Additionally, she now thinks he was framed, and perhaps by the same people who are threatening her. She had to talk him into taking her on as a client . . . but would he agree to her request?

As the number of attacks on her life increases, Vance soon has no choice but to offer her his protection, and in spite of everything, when they see each other again their old attraction for each other returns. She wants the truth. He wants the truth. However, making the ultimate sacrifice is not always easy to understand, whether given or received. Ultimately . . . could they now trust each other with these secrets? While their lives depend on discovering the truth to their past, these truths are locked in deep secrets that could also destroy them.
